1) Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’ll leave personal details about myself out as I doubt anyone would want to read that. I wouldn’t want to. LOL. I will say that I am female but I think that’s obvious from my screen name. 😛 It’s all about collecting for me! My main reason for internet service is for the purpose of expanding my collections. Now that I think about it I buy things almost on a daily basis… does that make me a shopaholic? 😮 Besides collecting I enjoy video games, drawing/sculpting, reading comics, toy customizing, the usual cool stuff. 😀

2) How long have you been collecting TMNT and what prompted you to start?I’ve been collecting TMNT since the line’s debut in 1988. I was introduced to the Turtles like many fans through the original toon. It didn’t take long for me to discover the original comics and I’ve been hooked ever since.

3) What specifically do you collect (toys, comics, etc.) and how large is your collection?
My main priority is action figures. I will also buy anything that catches my eye. I also enjoy comics, plush and trading cards. To this day I haven’t finished writing down everything I own, if that is any indication to you. I finally started reorganizing my collection earlier this year. I’ve been buying 22 gallon storage containers as I find them. So far I have filled 38 of them. This only includes smaller carded items, most of my loose figures and some plush. All my large boxed items, video games, comics and things I access frequently are not included. I am nowhere near finished. Sometimes I find myself buying something I already had because I can’t remember if I already bought it before…

4) What is your favorite piece in your collection and why?
It’s too difficult to choose just one item. I am very fond of a particular plush Leo I received for my 10th bday but that thing is so worn out from my childhood days of play only I would assign value to it. I adore my Japanese items especially the UFO plushies. Many of my Turtle sets such as Mutant Masters, Movie Star, Mini Mutants, etc. mainly for the cool factor they have. I also love all my original variations. It took so many years to acquire all those softhead variants. Some of my bootleg Turtles and the large plush Playmates Turtles are very special to me.

5) How do you store/display your collection at home?
Used to use cardboard boxes. Now I use plastic storage containers.

6) What are your top five most wanted TMNT collectibles?
At the moment, I am searching for the very last plush I need to complete my TMNT Japanese UFO sets. Only one more! There’s a few more figures I want for display purposes. Usually I am just missing one or two from a particular set. There’s not much else I am that eager to acquire at the moment. I suppose acquiring a real Ninja Turtle *cough* Leonardo *cough* would be #1 on my list. But hey lets be honest that item is on everyone’s list.

Some Questions Answered From Playmates

Hi Everyone!

We recently sat down with Adam Key, Playmates Product Manager for the TMNT, and he was kind enough to answer some of our questions in the wake of the press release from 9 days ago.

GGM: It has been public knowledge for quite some time now that the Comic Turtles line had been shelved (around the time that the ill-fated Music Turtles got the axe). Are these new comic turtles mentioned in the press release the same ones we saw debuted at NYCC09? And what was the inspiration behind bringing the idea back?

Adam: Yes, we knew that the collectors wanted these figures and we felt it was an appropriate time to bring them back after having success with the 25th Anniversary Figure Line. Only the 4 turtles will be brought back for the original Comic Book. No Splinter, Shredder or Foot.

GGM: The press release mentions a continuation of the vintage rereleases. Can we expect a number of figures rereleased past what we’ve seen prototyped atlready?

Adam: For the first time since 1990, we are bringing back the Movie Star Turtles. We are very excited about this as we’ve seen that these are quite the hot commodity on Ebay. The texture of these figures really brings out the feel of the original movie.

GGM: What is the current status of the Fugitoid figure? Pre-order stores have been pushing back the date to december. Is this accurate? If he performs at retail, could we hope to see more collector grade figures from Playmates?

Adam: These should be fulfilled shortly, but I will have to look into this and advise later.

GGM: Many fans out there have been wanting to see the toyline return to it’s roots with more attention focused on secondary characters, and maybe even see Playmates work with some of the sculpting greats from the 90’s toyline again; such as Scott Hensey and Steve Varner. Any thoughts on these things happening down the road?

Adam: Unfortunately retail demand is mainly for the core turtles. We tried to feature as many secondary characters as possible for the 25th Anniversary line (i.e. Bebop, Rock Steady, Casey, April). We understand that there is demand for these from collectors, but there are high costs to tool these figures and the volume doesn’t support it. We believe in 2011 when the movie comes out, there will be more demand for a very deep line. Keep the suggestions coming….

GGM: Is there anything else you’d like to convey to the fanbase or promote?

Adam: We would like to convey that we are continuing to support the turtle line throughout 2010 with TRU, and we expect a huge year in 2011 with the new movie that will continue into 2012 and beyond.

GoGreenMachine.Org To Publish Fan Driven Content Book

roboturts003

When GoGreenMachine.Org was created, it’s intention was to be a collaborative project to bring people from all corners of the Ninja Turtle Multi-verse together. To centralize the passion, creativity, and love we have for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so that we could enjoy them on a level that had not previously been possible. While we think we have gone a long way toward this goal, we aren’t there yet. Which is why, today, I am pleased to announce our newest project:

Go Green Machine! – A Collection of Fan-tasic Art and Stories (Working Title)

After quite some time of sorting permissions and working out logistics, GoGreenMachine.Org is taking the next step in bringing the fans together and making your voices heard. We are publishing a book! But who is going to write this masterpiece? You Are.

Starting immediately, GoGreenMachine.Org will begin taking submissions of fan generated TMNT related art, photos, fiction, mini comics, personal profiles, stories, and anything else you can think of! A large selection of these works will be chosen to be included in the publication. This book is going to be created by the fans, for the fans. Our goal is to create a high quality tome of content that each of you can be proud of and allow you to make your mark in the mythos of the TMNT. You’ve given so much of yourself to the boys in green. Now it’s time for you to show the world.

Rules For Submission:
In an effort to not stifle creative juices, we would like to set as few rules as possible. If we are going to use something you submit but it needs to be modified for whatever reason, we will work with you to make it right. But please, no nudity or overtly sexual themes or scenes. Swearing and ninja-violence is ok.

All submissions must be 100% created BY YOU, and not have been published in anything else before.

What We Are Looking For:
Although we are hoping that people suprise us with content we didn’t even KNOW we were looking for, here is a list of ideas to get your brain jumping:

Art – This can be something you’ve done recently or something from your childhood
Photos – Were you at an event? Meet the Mirage gang at a Con? Run into Kevin at the supermarket? Or just had a Turtle-rific 8th birthday party? We want to see it!
Life Stories – If you’ve read this far into this announcement, chances are, the Turtles have touched your lives in amazing ways none of us could even dream of. So tell us!
Fiction – Are you one of those very talented writers who love putting our heroes in death defying situations? Tell us a story.

How To Submit:
Submit any entries directly to our administrator at: Stephan@GoGreenMachine.Org

All submissions must be accompanied by a high resolution photo of yourself (strongly encouraged, but optional), and a breif bio. These will most likely be included in the publication somehow to give each of you proper credit.

The Fine Print:
In submitting anything to us for publication, you are automatically stating that we have the right to publish your work without any compensation to you. Understand that you are doing this because you want to be part of something bigger than yourself, not because you are looking for a payday.

While we do not take ownership of any of the material you submit, we would ask that you not use these materials in future official publications. Blogs, social netowrking sites, etc are fine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Am I getting paid for this?
A: No. No compensation will be given. As mentioned before, you are doing this out of love your our fandom, and to make your mark in the turtle universe.

Q: Are YOU getting paid for this?
A: Yes and No. Publishing this book is most likely going to be very, very expensive. Currently, GoGreenMachine plans to publish the book ourselves. Out of our own pocket (somewhat fitting given the origin of the Turtles). So we can promise you that any money we make off these books will go to repaying our investment, funding the site (which is also paid for out of pocket by us), and investing into further TMNT fan projects. The bottom line is that this is a labor of love. You don’t walk away rich from something like this.

Q: When is the book going to be released?
A: We are shooting for a release in the neighborhood of the 2011 Turtles movie. That is of course, subject to change.

Q: If I submit material, am I guaranteed to be in the book?
A: Unfortunately No. The book will undoubtedly have a page limit, and if we get as large of a response as we are hoping, we are going to have to be selective.

Q: What is the deadline for submission?
A: Currently there isn’t one. So just send us stuff till we tell you to stop.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of submissions I can make?
A: Not officially, just use your best judgement.

Q: I would like to help fund, distribute, produce, edit, or design this book.
A: If you would like to help with the project in some other way than content submission, you may contact our administrator at Stephan@GoGreenMachine.Org. Relevent work experience in graphic arts, design, consumer products, etc. will most likely be required.

Any other inquires can be made to our administrator at Stephan@GoGreenMachine.Org

This Project is offically public knowledge, so please, spread the word!
