It’s unclear if Tokka will obtain a set of these to keep on card, or extras for replacement figures & customs.

That may not happen tho’ considering the 12.99 price point, in some regards that may be a slightly higher price point than the 2009 reissues. I recall those clocking in at about 10.99 a few years back.

Apparently for now these reissues are a TRU exclusive offering, the 2013 reissues seem to offer subtle variations than older releases like the 2009 reissues.

The ‘RETRO’ packaging looks great and is even better executed than the 2009 wave. Splinter’s kimono is of a slightly more ‘flocked’ fabric than the prior reissues and vintage versions.

The foot peg holes in the bottom of the new reissue Splinter here has large ones like the more modern TMNT figs of the past 10 + years so they should fit some modern vehicles, playsets & stands but will present challenges if you are looking for compatibility with more vintage offerings like the classic Sewer playset.

I’ve yet to see any of the Teens or Shredder in this 2013 reissue wave, but i presume the foot peg holes on the bottom of those are large as well. 2013 Viacom Copyright information on these figures have been updated as well to distinguish them from the older releases.

Minor paint applications are slightly different than the vintage releases, but not too different than the 2009 release. For some reason his weapons on this reissue seem ‘studier’ but maybe it’s just me.

By the time i got to TRU this was the last reissue they had so i snatched it. His box got damaged so in part out of curiosity i cracked him open.

This line will prolly be for completists & mega-fans, people that missed out on TMNT toys back in the day or the reissues from a few years ago, or for kids who want a taste of the vintage line their moms & dads played with.

However in some regards at nearly 13 bucks a piece, these are pricier than the regular Nick Turtles line based on the current show. And in some cases these may be more pricier than some actual vintage figures out there of the main cast of TMNT from 3rd party dealers.You may as well get the loose, vintage equivalent figure if you just want one of those for display in your collection or to play with.

Obvious & interesting extensions of this “CLASSIC” line is the reissue AGAIN of the ‘TMNT Party Wagon’ & the reissue AGAIN of the oddball 2003 ‘MECH-WRECKERS’ vehicles for Retro Raph and Leo. Each of those nearing the $50 – 60 price mark. If money’s not an issue and you want/ need all this stuff – by all means go for it.

If not, wait out it for a few months – and hopefully prices will stabilize. If you are perfectly satisfied with your current collection of vintage figures, definitely pass on all this stuff and save some money.

Mike’s name is inscribed on the inside of the watch, Raphael’s watch does not have this. I’m unsure on the variations of this.

The Raphael watch i actually had working in early 2012, but like a fool .. i wore it on a “special occasion”, going onto the fast paced “TMNT – SHELL SHOCK” ride at the NICKELODEON UNIVERSE park in the Mall of America and some other rides.

Whatever happened, perhaps the moisture from some the water rides or maybe the stress on the Turtle of an adult wearing a kids watch – or whatever .. .. by the end of autumn i noticed the battery on Raph cut out again and that i had busted the original wristband that came with it.

The Mikey watch has not worked since i got it. My friend gave me the watch piece only and the backer card.

Replacement watch batteries were obtained at Radio Shack & two, inexpensive.. water-proof replacement wristbands were purchased at Walmart. All of the new items were put into place.

Each Turtle has a flip-top cover, there is a small clasp on the back side of the shell to hold the cover down over the watch while you wear it. Mike’s cover was nice and tight, but Raph’s ..as i noticed last year, while it would stay down sometimes.. it would flip up often and was fairly loose. A small amount of super-glue on the clasp and some fidgeting up & down with the cover created a tighter hold on the clasp. It seems to have worked, hopefully the hatch won’t pop up unexpectedly now while wearing it.

With the replacement parts, the watches are as good as new and fit me much better. Given the sentimental value of the pieces, i only will wear these on special occasions .. or maybe when i’m needing some cheering up & to remember the the love of the people that i’ve lost who gave them to me.

2 versions of each Teen were made into watches, a mold in the style of the counterpart vintage Toys, and a mold featuring “HAPPY” Teens. Apparently April, Shredder, and Splinter were made into watches as well. I cannot say i’ve seen anything but the SPLINTER watch. The molds for the watch covers also doubled for HOPE as they sold them in 2-pack sets of magnets. I only have the vintage Shredder / Mikey magnet set. I have no clue as to the entire variety in the line of the magnet sets. I presume the Shredder watch cover looks like the magnet sculpt. I have seen the Happy Mikey sculpt on a watch before.

Ironically, somewhere i came across a broken “Happy” Leonardo watch cover that i easily modified into a magnet for my fridge.

and here we have a P.K. “SCRAMBLED VARIANT”. Not a “REAL” variant, but an unusual case of scrambled parts in a MOC package.

Li Yang’s broken appendages appear all over the insides of this plastic bubble either courtesy of Krang’s pan-dimensional brain scrambler device or one of Lord Shibo’s evil body-part mash-up spells.

And it would appear the real culprit of this “variant” is poor assemblage. After Li left the factory – stress and settling during shipping just sent him all to pieces.

This really breaks Tokka’s heart so i’ve set to repair him.

Plus it gives us a brief glimpse at the inner workings of the construct of a vintage TMNT figure.
