–>> .. interestingly, this Raphael has a tail that serves as the lever. As you may know, traditional nutcrackers have a lever that when lifted ..the character’s mouth will open & metaphorically or literally a nut can be placed in the jaws of the figure and it can be cracked ( .. a ‘nut’ cracker :p ).
Obviously, this is no traditional nutcracker and the “cracker” portion of the figure is underneath Raph’s fully sculpted head and chin & above his plastron. The head feels like a hard resin, plastron is a painted vinyl strip, and the rest is a mix of wood and fabrics and metal name plaque.
When you move the tail up, the central part of Raph’s chest barely moves down a quarter of an inch. You couldn’t really put anything in there to crack ( not that you’d want to.. this is not a functional item but for decor, durr. XD ) let alone a nut.
Hmm.. well maybe a small sunflower seed.

Oh, phew! I thought it was just mine!
When I tried pulling the tail up and noticed the chest barely move, I thought mine was broken. I was thinking angrily of ways to get back at the merchant, until I told myself to calm down and Google the nutcracker, see if anyone else experienced the same thing. And sure enough, they did.
Still, it’s kind of dumb that the most basic feature of a nutcracker isn’t really here. I realize these wooden nutcrackers are for show and not really for cracking nuts, but having the chest fully open would’ve been nice, if not mandatory.
Ah, well. I can’t complain. I got mine on clearance, and it was the last one. Plus, it’s my favorite turtle!
Where can I purchase a ninja turtle nutcracker???? I need one so badly this year for my grandson. He is six years old and I have made it a tradition to buy him a nutcracker every Christmas. Help!!!
–>> Joanne, this Nutcracker was purchased from a seller on EBAY about a year or so after it’s release. I never found it in stores. Please check ebay and google shopping for current listings. Good luck !! ~ t
