From Steve Murphy:
I’ll help with “the transition” to Nick, wrap up any loose ends here at Mirage, move all of our archived product off-site, empty the front offices, then join the great unwashed. Everyone will be leaving here at some point during the next 2-5 months, by my reckoning, although the artists can maintain their personal office space in the “studio” side of the building (since Pete owns the building).
It’s surreal, dude… very, very surreal.
Is it just me or does this sound like the Mirage staff got blind-sided by this, too?
Wow. It sure does… *blinka* DAMN
Yeah… it really does… wow.
I asked Dan in an email if ANYONE knew about this, but from Murphy’s comment, my guess is that they did not know until the last month or so would be my theory.
Wonder how much of a say Gary had in this over Peter. I just don’t feel like this is something Peter would have thought of over night ‘You know, I’m just going to sell it all and retire’…
Peter is just so active in the fan base being the uber fan, it just sounds like a bizarre move for him.
Neil, when you get an answer back I’d like to know what Dan says.
Though I suppose this is all water under the bridge now….

I know that something like “if i were peter” wont work, but the hell with that so, if i were peter i´d have sold the tmnt rights to peter´s daughter or the ones closed to the tmnt property and if they haven´t had the money i´d have delegated my job to soneone else at mirage… but of course, that´s just my opinion.
Ah, man. That sucks.
Does this mean Mirage itself will be going out of business soon?
They’d almost have to. It takes allot to develop an idea, but not much to create one. If after 25 years they have nothing else as billable in the hopper, property taxes on a building these days are not cheap. Plus, why would the artists stick around if there’s nothing going on? Turtles was the only thing keeping them there and busy.
