TMNT Treasures: GobbledyGook 1 and 2

179_2106

Hey guys,
I had my copies of GobbledyGook 1 and 2 out of their display so I could clean it. Since they were out, I thought I would take some pictures.

For our readers who are not intimately familiar with what these books are, the first print of GobbledyGook 1 and 2 are the first books that Kevin and Peter did together. They are both self-published (created using a photocopier) and had a limited print run of 50 of each. GobbledyGook 1 is the first appearance of Fugitoid, as well as a Triceraton. These are by far the rarest of all Mirage books, and because they are photocopied (thus easily reproduced), the only 100% reliable source for these books are from the creators themselves. My copies were acquired directly from Kevin Eastman.

Yes. I realize that most of this material has been reprinted, but I thought some of you might like to see the art in it’s original format. I kept the pictures HUGE so you can sit and read the books if you like.

Also, you’ll probably notice that there are 4 pages in GobbledyGook 1 that appear twice. This is obviously a production error, however, I have yet to confirm as to whether or not this error is in all of the copies or not. I asked Kevin about it when he gave me the books and he said that that was the first time he noticed (leading me to believe that it is just this one copy of the book with the error). I have an email out to Peter right now asking about the error, and I will let you know what he says.

Enjoy!

Thanks to Raph’s Girl of the Technodrome. It seems that Mirage has greenlit a TMNT themed ride in South Korea….weird!

NEW YORK: As part of the 25th anniversary celebration for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 4Kids Entertainment and Mirage Studios have given the go-ahead for the development and construction of the first-ever theme-park ride for the classic property, in South Korea.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4-D Dark Ride will launch at SciFanta’s new Incheon South Korea-based indoor theme park, which opens in April 2011. 4Kids and Mirage will work with 3DBA and Falcon’s Treehouse, which have collaborated to create such rides/attractions as Splash Battle, 4-D Dark Ride, CircuMotion, Flying Theater, and the state-of-the-art 4-D Game Theatre.

3DBA is a location-based organization that develops and delivers innovative attractions and entertainment experiences to theme parks, science centers, shopping malls and other entertainment venues. Falcon’s Treehouse is a leader in the successful development of intense, highly scalable personalized emotional experiences.

“We are delighted to be partnering with 3DBA and Falcon’s Treehouse on the design and master planning of the attraction,” said Al Kahn, the chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment. “These companies are recognized leaders in bringing immersive and interactive experiences to fruition all over the world. With state-of-the-art technologies and unique products, no one is better suited to bring the 4Kids’ properties and television shows to life.”

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a classic brand that has broad appeal and is much loved by children and parents alike, providing the perfect opportunity for increased marketability,” added Roger Houben, the president of 3DBA. “Our partnership with 4Kids fits the current market trend for heritage brand themed attractions and initial responses to the concept have been very positive.”

“Announcing this newest entertainment vehicle for the Turtles is gratifying on two levels,” commented Gary Richardson, the CEO, Mirage Studios, rights holder of the TMNT brand. “It affirms the Turtles’ staying power, particularly this year with our 25th anniversary ‘Shell-ebration’ activities in full swing, and ensures a new generational fan base will be able to experience and enjoy the property for years to come.”

I'm Sorry and Thank You!

Hey gang,
Work has been kicking my ass the last couple week, so I wanted to A) apologize for being so sparse in my posts, and B) Thank the other GGM writers for carrying the ball in my absence. As some of you know, I work in the game industry, and next week’s convention — e3 — has been keeping me on my toes. So rest assured, I will be back to my normal loud and obnoxious self once all this industry madness passes. Thanks for understanding!

P.S. This is the best “Sad Turtle” picture I could find.
