MCubed Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III

The Turtle movie that I’m sure is least loved by fans the world over, TMNT III is actually my second favorite of the four. “Why?” you may ask. Well it has the Ninja Turtles and Time Travel, 2 of my favorite things in the world (Archie’s Future Shark Trilogy practically makes me faint.) So here’s my video review of TMNT III.

MCubed Review: Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

So, for those of you who are lucky enough not to know, I try to make a web-video movie review series. And as this month is the 25th anniversary of the TMNT, I figured I’d review Turtle films. I’ve already reviewed NT:TNM’s straight to video East meets West, We Wish You a Turtle Christmas, and the 1st movie. Now on to Turtles II The Secret of the Ooze. What is the Secret of the Ooze? Your guess is as good as mine.

Enjoy!

New Scott Mednick Interview From MTV

Scott_Portrait

Good ol’ MTV. THey may not be a good source for music videos anymore. But if you want scripted reality shows, or interviews with Scott MEdnick, they are the people to go to these days 😛

Click the pic for a ton of new information about the new movie directly from the Mednick’s mouth.

What's (Laird's) Love Got to Do With It?

Kirk

So Peter Laird posted on his blog that he was not a fan of the new Star Trek film. Turtle fans the net over were shocked and dismayed. “Peter Laird may not like a pseudo-reboot of a series he enjoyed since childhood, what could this mean for the pseudo-reboot of the series I enjoyed since my childhood?” Collectively the TMNT fan base wet themselves.

To be honest I don’t see it. I guess there is something to be said of Laird’s distaste for Star Trek. That thing: Peter Laird didn’t like J.J. Abrams’ vision of Star Trek. That’s it. Though I guess the question of whether because Peter Laird didn’t like this changes made to make Star Trek more marketable to the masses, he may be afraid to make necessary changes to the Turtles to make them appeal to the general audiences may be a valid one.

Trek Turtles

But then again, he already has, for the most part. The original series is the prime example. The Turtles were changed to be marketed to kids, as opposed to the teens and young adults audience of the comic series. All in all, some fans would say, Turtles has changed quite a bit from it’s roots. There are fans who feel, like Laird himself, that the changes to the  Turtles have left the franchise almost irredeemable unless it returns to it’s dark roots. Mildly ironic really. Laird as a Trek fan feels Star Trek has abandoned it’s original heart and soul, and Turtle fans see him and his changes to the franchise in a similar light.
So if Laird’s loathing of this newest Trek should make fans wonder anything, it should make us think, “How can he not see that there is a parallel here?”

TMNT DVD / Blu-Ray note from Mike – Sama

@!*$^%$&

..following up Stephan’s post regarding the TMNT in Time Remake, Mike-Sama adds ..:: ” Speaking of news I have info on Warner’s forthcoming release of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 25th Anniversary Collection on DVD and Blu-ray due out on 8/4
for (New Line).

Per the official press release, both will include all four movies in the series. The DVD set (SRP $39.92) will also come packaged in a collectible tin DVD travel case, with four turtle masks and temporary tattoos. The Blu-ray set (SRP $84.99) will come in retro pizza box packaging, and will include all the stuff we mentioned before – a reproduction comic book, an exclusive original sketch with creator Peter Laird’s autograph, collectible character cards and a TMNT beanie hat.

Not bad news but its a bit of a let down that the first movie isn’t two disks and more than likely will not include the deleted scenes or a re-cut of the film to include the deleted footage. Also from my talks with Dan Berger they haven’t recorded any extras for the sets. Hopefully things will change as it gets closer to the release date. “
