Playmates Toys is on the Move!

Our good friend Vaughn Michael found this little tidbit of information on the interwebs:

Playmates Toys is moving its US offices to Los Angeles from Costa Mesa, CA and expects to be settled into their new home by April 1st 2010. This move is on the heels of a restructuring of the U.S. organization in an effort to reduce overhead and focus all our resources on strategic partnerships and key long term brands such as Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & iCarly, Michael Jackson, Hero:108, DreamWorks’ Shrek and Rainbow Brite. “We are very optimistic that our changes will have a positive effect on our business and are thrilled to be moving to contemporary new offices in El Segundo hoping to attract new talent from all over the LA area.” said Lou Novak, President, Playmates Toys.

Rumor had been circulating earlier in the month that Playmates had recently laid off up to 50% of their production staff. This certainly seems to be in line with those rumors.

** TMNT 25 Reissue’s Screwy WAVE 3 **

–>> Chiming in on the scarcity of the third wave of TMNT 25th anniversary reissues.. Chief of operations here at GGM; Stephan reports in the following in this  **T-drome thread ::

“..Having trouble finding the wave 3 rereleases? I think I know why:

This came in the mail today.

It is a full wave 3 case of figures. 8 figures total. When I opened it up, this is what i found:

1 Slash
1 Shredder
1 Foot
1 Rocksteady
1 of each turtle

So you see, for every wave 3 case toys r us is buying, they are only getting 1 of each wave 3 figures. This makes the wave 3 figures exceedingly more rare than the two previous waves.”
