GGM Special Feature: The Dover House

Hey Everyone!

Well we are back from NYCC safe and sound! So now is the time to start sharing stories about or trip. As NYCC wasn’t very turtle heavy, I decided to just make a short series of special posts about the coolest of the trip (rather than one giant NYCC post). This is the first of said posts. Hope you enjoy!

Above is the house in Dover, NH that Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, and his wife lived at the time that the Ninja Turtles were created. This house is quite litterally the birth place of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This photo was taken circa 1984.

On Sunday, the last day of the convention; Heather, her sister Rae, and myself decided to skip the convention to take a 300 mile car trip in our rental Dodge Nitro, to visit this slice of Mirage history.

5 hours and some beautiful country later, we arrive at our destination (at roughly 7:30pm, sorry for the low light pictures). Thi is the Dover house as it stands today.

There is quite a bit of construction around the property at the moment. Actually, an earthmover was parked in front of the next house over. The street is kind of a mess.

Yes, that is a for sale sign you see in the front. However; we contacted the reality representative for the house and discovered the there is already a deal closing on the house.

Rear of the house.

Seeing it in person made it clear that it hadn’t been lived in in a very very long time.

Sadly, because of the pending sale, the property was locked by the bank, and the representative was unable to open the property for us to look inside.

We were there for about a half and hour, soaking up the history as it were, before driving back to NYC. 12 hours and 600 miles round trip, but totally worth it.

A Huge huge thank you to my loving wife to be, and her awesome sister Rae, for taking this walk through turtles history with me.
