Wow…what a freakin’ day! Crazy, non-stop running around Los Angeles. But I have to tell you now…What started out as just something that I figured I should cover for the blog…wnded up being a REALLY cool day!
The day started at 10AM at the Hollywood and Highland shopping center (I bet you can’t guess what the cross streets are) where Scott Mednick and Galen Walker (Producers, TMNT 2011) were holding tryouts for the foot clan extras in the next turtles film. They were judging ninjas, big and small, with the help of Ernie Reyes Jr., and a member of the ATA whos name I didn’t catch (Sorry dude!)
While I would love to say I was terribly excited by this event…it was a martial arts tryout and it was a BILLION degrees outside, so I personally wasn’t totally thrilled to be there. I have to say though…every single applicant there was absolutely thrilled to be there, and there were some VERY talented folk. Much respect to all of you.
You can find pictures I took of the event HERE
And a ton of video HERE (which is incidentally our new You Tube Channel! Subscribe!)
So after running home and clearing out the ol’ memory card, it was off to Golden Apple Comics.
Now, it is no secret that I am…kind of an idiot…Today was no exception…because I had no idea that not only was the Bus stopping at the store…but Kevin was also signing there! I was totally unprepared! Thankfully, they had the new heavy Metal TMNT25 compilation book there (which I didn’t have yet) so I still had something to make Kevin spend ink on.
While you can find all the pictures I took at Golden Apple HERE, I will go over a few of my favorites!
“The Eastmans” – Kevin, Pam, Peter and Shane
Waiting for my turn to say hi to Kevin, I snapped this picture while I was talking to Ernie. I’m so happy I finally got to meet Pam, I have heard so many good things about her from Kevin, which is funny because she said the exact same thing about me! And for the record, I love those kids. Peter is crazy awesome and has a fantastic imagination. I played a game of little green army men war with that kid once…he totally destroyed my force of red army men…Jerk.
You know, I don’t think he has ever had a straight face in any of our pictures lol.
My new (old) friend from the Technodrome.com…Jimmyjams!
Now this was a random win-fall. Mirage super legend, Michael Hill (Former Creative Director of Mirage) stopped in to say hi to Kevin, and we ended up talking most of the afternoon!
This was something else REALLY random. This girl stops me and Michael mid conversation and says “Excuse me, my friend here is the daughter of Peter Laird, and was wondering if she could take a picture with your tattoos.” So I look behind her and, sure enough, Emily Laird is standing right there. I of course was honored to meet and take a couple pictures with Pete’s girl. This was the picture we snapped on my camera.
Here is a shot of my favorite Canadian Sausages: Randall, Curtis, and Isaac, of Turtledoc.com
Right before we were leaving, I caught Mike Sinterniklaas (Leonardo TMNT 2K3) for a quick photo op.
This was after the event when a few of us were standing around talking about nothing in particular…I just think it’s a good picture of Kev 😛
Anyway! Thanks for reading my post and checking out the pictures! I had a blast! And I will see many of you at SDCC! Remember to check back here for the live streaming of panels during the show!
Go Green Machine!
