1) Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’ll leave personal details about myself out as I doubt anyone would want to read that. I wouldn’t want to. LOL. I will say that I am female but I think that’s obvious from my screen name. 😛 It’s all about collecting for me! My main reason for internet service is for the purpose of expanding my collections. Now that I think about it I buy things almost on a daily basis… does that make me a shopaholic? 😮 Besides collecting I enjoy video games, drawing/sculpting, reading comics, toy customizing, the usual cool stuff. 😀

2) How long have you been collecting TMNT and what prompted you to start?I’ve been collecting TMNT since the line’s debut in 1988. I was introduced to the Turtles like many fans through the original toon. It didn’t take long for me to discover the original comics and I’ve been hooked ever since.

3) What specifically do you collect (toys, comics, etc.) and how large is your collection?
My main priority is action figures. I will also buy anything that catches my eye. I also enjoy comics, plush and trading cards. To this day I haven’t finished writing down everything I own, if that is any indication to you. I finally started reorganizing my collection earlier this year. I’ve been buying 22 gallon storage containers as I find them. So far I have filled 38 of them. This only includes smaller carded items, most of my loose figures and some plush. All my large boxed items, video games, comics and things I access frequently are not included. I am nowhere near finished. Sometimes I find myself buying something I already had because I can’t remember if I already bought it before…

4) What is your favorite piece in your collection and why?
It’s too difficult to choose just one item. I am very fond of a particular plush Leo I received for my 10th bday but that thing is so worn out from my childhood days of play only I would assign value to it. I adore my Japanese items especially the UFO plushies. Many of my Turtle sets such as Mutant Masters, Movie Star, Mini Mutants, etc. mainly for the cool factor they have. I also love all my original variations. It took so many years to acquire all those softhead variants. Some of my bootleg Turtles and the large plush Playmates Turtles are very special to me.

5) How do you store/display your collection at home?
Used to use cardboard boxes. Now I use plastic storage containers.

6) What are your top five most wanted TMNT collectibles?
At the moment, I am searching for the very last plush I need to complete my TMNT Japanese UFO sets. Only one more! There’s a few more figures I want for display purposes. Usually I am just missing one or two from a particular set. There’s not much else I am that eager to acquire at the moment. I suppose acquiring a real Ninja Turtle *cough* Leonardo *cough* would be #1 on my list. But hey lets be honest that item is on everyone’s list.

1) Please tell us a little about yourself.

WHOOO AM I????!!! ….. I have no idea….Ok I’ll try to make this brief. I was born Nov. 30th on the first snow of winter 1985. My parents were kinda hippy type people, we lived off and on in a converted school bus in my early years which still sits in a small grove on a friends property where it acts as a summer cottage.

Until around the age of grade 7 (what ever that is) I was ‘home schooled’…. YES… I am one of ‘those’ creepy home-schooled kids. Growing up I spent a lot of time working with and learning from my father who was a general contractor and a wonderful teacher of the practical aspects of the world around me. I developed an intense interest in movies and cameras very early in life, which turned into a post secondary education and career in the field. And Yes! the first TMNT movie was a massive player in that passion development. Along with the greats like Terminator 1 and Blade runner! As well as working in in film I work construction with my dad, work on and re-build old Toyota Land Cruisers, fix cars, play bass in a band, play drums for myself, manufacture large camera cranes and rigs, and so on.

Most of you know me now as the guy doing the Turtle Doc, some of you I have even met! This project is yet another one of my crazy projects that go WAY beyond where I imagined they would go, which is always cool! You can see some of the other stuff I do on my sites www.iproductionsonline.com and the movie I shot at www.lifeofcharlie.com …. Oh and of course www.turtledoc.com

Otherwise I am just a crazy, free thinking, loud mouthed, opinionated, happy go lucky, Canadian, living a modest little life in a small city outside Toronto with my girl friend Robyn. Come up and hang out in Canada anytime! if your not afraid of slightly socialist people hahaha!

2) How long have you been collecting TMNT and what prompted you to start?

Well I come from a family of crazy collectors so it comes as totally natural. My first TMNT toys were pre-five birthday and then I got a bunch more on that birthday and the rest Is history.

I would say I have only been seriously collecting since 2007. I have always been collecting movie toys of all types but it wasn’t until then that I decided to focus on one thing I could collect a lot of!!

3) What specifically do you collect (toys, comics, etc.) and how large is your collection?

Well I am a big time toy guy! I am also a completionist by nature so I like to have complete lines with all accessories and such. That said I am also realistic so at this point I am focusing on complete loose figures and dabbling in carded or boxed. My comic collection has grown substantially since the start of the Doc project, but not complete yet.

4) What is your favorite piece in your collection and why?

Hmmmm…. Good question. Probably some of my rare’rer er… comics and variants.

5) How do you store/display your collection at home?

HA This is a great question…. Well I live in a vary small apartment, but I am sort of a freak about nicely displayed and very well taken care of collections. (You will see the best of which in the world in the Doc… but it’s not mine). So I only have a small selected amount out on display at the moment. There is a larger variety of loose figures displayed on the upper walls of my storage closet, but otherwise everything is very carefully stored.

6) What are your top five most wanted TMNT collectibles?

I have a good chunk of very rare and nice pieces so otherwise it would have to be the completion of my toy collection, movie props or suits (which with my anal nature I fully intend and demand proper preservation and storage of these props, people don’t get it! Latex disintegrates in air and light… believe me I have seen full turtle suits in states that would make you cry, so if you have these PROTECT THEM! Don’t ‘love them’)…. Cough…. Ok That was a nice brackets rant.

1) Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hello Everybody. I’m Jerry. I’m a huge TMNT fan from New Jersey. I know some of you already think I live in the sewer. I have always had an interest in toys. But the TMNT is what turned me in a toy collector.
I make my living as a lineman for the local telephone company. That just means I spend most of my days about 20 feet off the ground. I’m married and have been for over 10 years. We don’t have any kids, but we do have 2 large dogs that we rescued from the pound. Luckily my dogs have no interest in my toy collecting and never bother with anything that gets left out.

 2) How long have you been collecting TMNT and what prompted you to start?
I have been a TMNT collector since the day Playmates released the toys in ’88. I’m a little older than most Ninja Turtle collectors today. I was 24 years old when the toys were released. Almost my entire collection was purchased right off the store shelves. I have bought a few things that I paid alot of money for, but mostly everything came right out of the toy store and into my home.
I remember being on vacation in Florida back in the mid-80’s. I got up one morning and flipped through the TV channels. As I watched this strange cartoon, I remember thinking ” what is this??? Those are turtles and they’re ninjas”. Well for the rest of that vacation, I got up early each morning and watched this cartoon. Once I got home, I told some friends about this show I was watching. They all laughed and told me I was an idiot. Because the cartoon had not reached New Jersey yet or we had never seen it, all my friends thought I was on drugs. And bad ones at that. Soon after that the cartoon began playing and they all also loved the show I had been telling them about. I really enjoyed the original cartoon and was always in the toy store. I just happened to be in the local Toys R Us when the stock people were putting out the toys for the very first time. They clearly had no idea what to make of these new toys and were making fun of each and every figure that they pulled from the box. I went over and picked out one of each of all the figures they had. That’s what started my TMNT collection and it continues today, over 20 years later.

3) What specifically do you collect (toys, comics, etc.) and how large is your collection?
I mostly collect the toys from Playmates and I prefer to have the figures MIB or MOC. But I have been known to pick up almost anything that is related to the Turtles.
I used to think my collection of TMNT was very very large. But after talking to a few members, I realized some people’s passion is stronger than mine! I currently have all the vintage figures carded, maybe I missing 3 at the most. If it was released in the stores, it was my mission to find it. I always liked them, but never really collected the vehicles from the line. Now that would really take up alot of room!!

4) What is your favorite piece in your collection and why?
Favorite piece in my collection??? I don’t know if I could narrow it down to just one. I liked having things that are difficult, but not impossible, to find. I have most of the Japanese figures. And have full cases of much of the figures from the end of the vintage line, such as MutantMasters, Mutaforce, Dino, Coil and Eggs. I really like the Shredder Mail-away. I also have the gold 5th anniversary Turtle and a Toyfair 1989 Promotional wristwatch. Both are limited numbered editions and I was lucky enough to aquire #00005 for each item. But probably the centerpiece to my collection is something some people liked and others hated. I am lucky enough to own probably the last full body costume from the ’90’s live action stage show “Coming Out of Our Shells”. My costume is of Leo from the stage performance. If you would like to see it, The moderators of this great site have posted pictures of my TMNT and toy collection. You can see it there.

5) How do you store/display your collection at home?
Luckily I own my own home with a full basement. The basement is my toy haven. My wife, who supports my hobby, rarely goes down those stairs because of how much stuff is displayed all over. One corner is boxes that I must still sort through, but the rest is all displayed on shelves and in glass cases. Check out the pictures!!

6) What are your top five most wanted TMNT collectibles?
Right now, I am searching for one Japanese Super Turtles. I need Raph #56 to complete my set. Probably the only other thing I would really want to have is the store opening costume. Back in the day, when stores opened or just if it was a special occasion, sometimes the Turtles made an appearence. Usually only 2 at a time were availible. I want one of those really great costumes that I remember. It was very short and stocky. It was probably about 5 and a half feet tall and near 3-4 feet wide. The best part is that it was very reminisent of the FCF Turtles. I always thought that those costumes were very well made. I’ve been looking for decades for any of those and have never even seen them or pictures of them again. They probably went out with the trash along time ago. I hope not.

7) Anything you would like to say in closing?
I just want to say that I really enjoy TMNT collecting. I have met alot of great people over the years who share my interest and they all have my respect. Some, I’ve known for many, many years and others I just met a short time ago. Collecting is alot of fun as long as you don’t take it too seriously. I want to thank the moderators of this site. They seem to think I’d be interesting enough to do a profile of. I sure hope they weren’t disappointed. Again, my pictures are all listed over under the jwiz154 collections. I’d really like to know what anyone else thinks about my stuff. Thanks for looking.
