"THE BEST BAR IN 9999 + Dimensions : MUNDEN'S ! " , GRIM JACK #26 - spot ad .. art by Peter Laird (( 1986 ))

–>> This classic ad for the cult – fave “TMNT / GRIM JACK” crossover in pretty interesting from the long gone but not forgotten First Comics.

On the offset it gives off the classic whimsy and nature in diversity of the Mirage Aliens that Laird and Eastman populated the Turtles’ Galaxy with.

There is one thing of interesting note on this ad.

On Peter Laird’s popular blog in a post of **September of 2008 , Pete posted an illustration entitled “Enchanted Pilgrimage” ::

“Clifford Simak is one of my all-time favorite writers, and in the early 1980’s I played around with trying to illustrate some scenes from a few of his books. This one is from “Enchanted Pilgrimage”. “– PL

Obviously, these uncovered ‘Simak’ creatures from Mr.Laird’s archives are the same ones depicted as the Turtles’ extra-terrestrial drinking buddies in the GRIM JACK ad  !!

TMNT Art by Jeff Thomas

TMNT_Feudal_Era[1]

My very good friend and co-worker, Jeff Thomas, showed me this today and it dropped my jaw. Jeff is an amazing artist. He and another dear friend of mine, Celeste Green, run a number of webcomics out of their blog. Click the pic to go right to it!

Usagi Yojimbo by…Stan Lee?!

stanleesusagi

This was too cute not to post. Over at Stan Sakai’s blog, he has posted a picture of an interpretation of Usagi Yojimbo by none other than Stan Lee. This was done for one of the SDCC09 projects. Click the pic to go directly to his blog.
