–>> Very roughly 8″ scale; Art Asylum’s sculpt of these fully functioning coin banks is darn near dead on T.V. show accurate; paint and all. Each bank is semi-articulated allowing for a limited range of posability on your shelf or wherever the bank is displayed, keep in mind that certain poses may tip the balance of the bank and will not work.

The elbow structure and weapon positions need to be placed to offer support to the bank. You should be able to position the bank in a cool n’ fun pose without it tipping over, you’ll just have to play with the arms and poses ’til you find something that works to your choosing.

Weapons are of a decent, tho in Leo’s katana case — the plastic is a bit flimsy. Each bank needs a small amount of assembly to put the weapons in the Turtle’s hands correctly. Mike’s nunchuckus have a real chain.

One can definitely see this being a fun change savings device for kids but again it is not necessarily a toy. Parents should prolly use some discretion if getting this for their children, especially if the little savers are very young. These are defiantly awesome pieces for the bigger kids & TMNT fans to save their pennies in the tradition of high quality standards of Art Asylum and DST.

Acquired today from a May pre-order with Hooked on Hallamark .

Aside from being a usual dangling tree figurine, this battle-ready Mikey can also pose as a  shelf model. As shown in the photos, ornament Mikey is kept company by some of my Christmas edition MOUSERs.

–>> Every year during San D, Tokka is usually able to get at least ONE REAL QUICK illustration from Kevin Eastman. At the “0” hour of closing, everyone was cleaning up, SDCC’s security was about to beat and arrest me and Tokka’s head was about to explode into 25 billion little HD Technicolor Pixels. It just wasn’t gonna happen.

Then suddenly this young chap stepped-up to the plate, one of Heavy Metal Magazine’s rising STARS – SHANE .. and here we have a quick and cool TMNT masterpiece for Tokka to add to his TURTLE art-collection in the same genre o’ black & white vibrancy that started the whole EASTMAN Legacy in the first place !!

Free Comic Book Day – The People, the comics…. the hail?!

It has been a wild couple of weeks…

Free Comic Book Day not only was the annual comic giveaway across the country, but it was also the 30th anniversary for the teenage mutant ninja turtles. I was fortunate to be around for the special Eastman & Laird reunion and signing events for both Jetpack Comics in Rochester, NH and Shellback Artworks in Wells, ME.
