So Let It Be Written…So Let It Be Done.

With the release of Tales #70 in the coming days, this marks the end of the first 25 year chapter of Mirage. Dan Berger wrote a touching farewell on the Mirage Licensing Homepage, you should go check it out (click the pic).

While we say goodbye to Mirage, let me tell you that the Machines and I will definitely still be here, holding the fort, for the foreseeable future. With Nick/Viacom taking the reigns, somebody has to stay on top of things…and that somebody is certainly going to be us. So don’t lose heart friends. We will always be here for you, as we hope you are always here for us.

Vintage Mirage Photos

Hey gang,
So I’ve been building a relationship with ex-Mirager Bill Fitts over the last year or so (I’ve acquired quite a bit of art from him as of late). Anyway, along with my latest transaction, Bill was kind enough to send me an envelope full of photos from back in the day. Theres a myriad of various photos (see if you can name everyone in them!) You’ll even scope out a dashing young Stan Sakai!

Anyway, click the pic to go to the album of photos. Hope you get as big a kick out of them as I did. And thanks again Bill!

20th Anniversary of TMNT 1

Yeah so I’m a couple hours late on this. Sorry!

As many of you already know, yesterday (March 31st) was the 20th anniversary of the first Turtles movie. Peter Laird created a tribute post on his blog to mark the occasion, with some (to my knowledge) never before seem photos (and some you have seen :-P). Anyway, go check it out!

Playmates Toys is on the Move!

Our good friend Vaughn Michael found this little tidbit of information on the interwebs:

Playmates Toys is moving its US offices to Los Angeles from Costa Mesa, CA and expects to be settled into their new home by April 1st 2010. This move is on the heels of a restructuring of the U.S. organization in an effort to reduce overhead and focus all our resources on strategic partnerships and key long term brands such as Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & iCarly, Michael Jackson, Hero:108, DreamWorks’ Shrek and Rainbow Brite. “We are very optimistic that our changes will have a positive effect on our business and are thrilled to be moving to contemporary new offices in El Segundo hoping to attract new talent from all over the LA area.” said Lou Novak, President, Playmates Toys.

Rumor had been circulating earlier in the month that Playmates had recently laid off up to 50% of their production staff. This certainly seems to be in line with those rumors.

Prayers for Jake

As most of you know, our friend and Tales writer, Jake Black, is a cancer survivor. Jake spent the better part of last year fighting the crap off, and has since been in remission.

Via his facebook page this morning, Jake shared this news:

Ok, here’s the deal: Was on the phone with my oncologist for an hour last night b/c I’ve been having some worrisome symptoms-night sweats, extreme fatigue, itchy skin, a little weight loss. Dr. is “concerned” and has ordered some blood work today and a PET Scan next week. He and I will meet a week from today to discuss results from the scan. It’s possible it’s not a recurrence, but these symptoms are not a good sign.

We will update you as we know more. In the mean time, positive thoughts please.
